KADUNA — Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have called for the party’s House of Representatives ticket to be zoned to Kajuru LGA in the forthcoming Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency bye-election.
At a press conference held in Kaduna on Saturday, the stakeholders, led by Hon. Markus Zarmai Yari, said it was only just and politically fair for Kajuru to produce the next lawmaker following the death of Hon. Abubakar Adams Ekene, who was from Chikun.
They argued that zoning the ticket to Kajuru would promote equity and inclusion in the constituency, while also boosting the APC’s chances ahead of the August 16 bye-election.
“We are passionately appealing to our great party to zone the ticket to Kajuru. This will cement the bond of brotherhood and guarantee wider electoral support across both local governments,” Yari stated.
The group unanimously endorsed Hon. Fidelix Joseph Bagudu as their preferred candidate, describing him as a grassroots politician with the capacity to consolidate the party’s achievements and deliver effective representation at the National Assembly.
They also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his state visit and the commissioning of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital in Millennium City, Kujama, Chikun LGA, as well as for approving major infrastructure projects including the Kaduna Light Rail and Birnin Gwari road reconstruction.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the party, the stakeholders pledged support for the re-election bids of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, praising their people-oriented programmes and developmental strides.
The conference ended with a united call to the APC leadership to consider their appeal, noting that zoning the seat to Kajuru would promote unity and improve the party’s electoral prospects in the constituency.
