Osun State Government has, in the last two years, established seven industrial estates across the state to support the Free Trade Zone in a bid to industrialise the state.

Speaking with newsmen in Osogbo on Thursday, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in the state, Mr Bunmi Jenyo, added that the goal is not just to establish industry but create job opportunities for the youth and revive the state economy.

According to him, the economic drive of this administration is to ensure that every projects relating to commerce and industry is not abandoned while those abandoned like the free trade zone, the Dagbolu international market would be revived and completed to boost to boost its economy.

“Presently, we have established seven industrial estates, including agro-processing estate at Erin-Osun, Economy Zone at Itaigure, Ede among others to complement the Free Trade Zone already established in the state.

“We are developing each industrial estates in phases with a view to ensuring that none is abandoned. The free trade zone is now receiving attention from the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration. The gate house and the administrative building is getting attention before handing it over the company managing it.

He added that the administration is also building and remodeling markets to ensure uninterrupted commercial activities, adding that work has resumed on the three-star hotel abandoned inside Ayegbaju international market in Osogbo.

His words, “Work is almost completed on the three-star hotel inside Ayegbaju international market and a mall would also be constructed within the facility to enhance economic activities in the area.

“The ultimate objective of the Adeleke-led administration is to give commercial activities a priority under a conducive environment”.
