The Middle Belt Forum, MBF, has corroborated the position of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state that terrorist organisation, Boko Haram has informants among politicians, the military and even the locals.
Reacting to the assertion by the Governor, the National President of MBF, Dr Bitrus Pogu noted that the manner of operation of the group clearly indicated that they access information from such informants.
Hear him: “I agree with what Governor Zulum said. They have not just politicians but also locals. As we are talking I am already close to Chibok. Boko Haram is attacking this area on a daily basis and some of them are not even reported.
“For them to succeed they usually have informants telling them what is going on and who is doing what. And some of this people are within the system.
“You cannot explain sometimes when Boko Haram will come and overun a whole Brigade like the one that happened recently if they didn’t have informants from within.
“So what the Governor said is true. What we have to do as a people is to tidy the system up. There are also accomplices aside informants within the security forces.
“For example when soldiers are about decimating Boko Haram sometimes an order will come from senior or higher quarters to tell them to abort the exercise. If such people are not sympathisers of Boko Haram why give such instructions?
“So there are so many things that are happening within the security network and architecture which requires rejigging.
“It is unfortunate that this thing is not ending because of such accomplices and such informants that are making things difficult to solve or resolve our problems.”
