Ogun State government has expressed its readiness to implement policies that will improve livestock farming, and as well encourage collaboration among herders and farmers in the State.

It also emphasized the State commitment to creating an enabling environment, where all stakeholders can thrive peacefully, while contributing to the state’s economy.

The Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Inter-Ethnic Affairs, Hadi Sani, stated these during a meeting with the Minister of Livestock Development, Dr. Idi Muktar Maiha.

The high-level discussion, which took place at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, focused on policy formulation and implementation, aimed at boosting livestock development in Ogun State.

Sani said the meeting was to reaffirm the State government’s dedication to the overall development of the livestock sector in the State.

He said, “the meeting underscored the commitment of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration towards ensuring food and human security while fostering peaceful coexistence among stakeholders in the livestock industry”.

“With increasing concerns over food production, security, and ethnic tensions in the sector, the engagement sought to outline actionable strategies that will enhance the sustainability of livestock farming in the state”.

On his part, Dr. Idi Muktar Maiha, the Minister of Livestock Development, commended the Ogun State government for taking proactive steps in addressing challenges within the livestock industry.

He reiterated the federal government’s support in ensuring that states like Ogun benefit from policies that promote sustainable livestock farming, security, and economic empowerment.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the scheduling of a working visit to Ogun State. During this visit, Dr. Maiha and his team will engage directly with Governor Dapo Abiodun and other stakeholders in the livestock sector to further assess needs, challenges, and opportunities for collaboration.
