Nigerian sensation, Samuel Orji popularly known as Sammy Joke, has revealed the tremendous leverage his career has gained from performing on the platform provided by popular comedian, MC Edopikin.

According to the fast-rising comedian and content creator, the two most prominent shows that has helped him to break into new territories and connect with wider audiences are MC Edopikin Undiluted, Benin City and Edo in Eko, Lagos State, two flagship shows hosted by his Mentor.

Speaking more about his influences, Sammy Joke also revealed, “MC Edo Pikin and Akpororo are my role models because their content is fresh and unique. Since I started observing them, they have not had a bad performance on stage. They make use of good techniques, and the events they handle are humorous.”

Born on August 26, 1995, in Benin City, Edo State, Sammy Joke originally hails from Afikpo South Local Government. The entertainer grew up in a family of six and was encouraged by his loved ones to pursue a career in comedy. His journey into comedy began after he realised his natural talent for making people laugh.

Recalling his journey into comedy, he disclosed, “Before I started comedy, I found out that I was funny. A lot of people I came across in the market, in school, to mention a few places, found my jokes amusing. People kept on talking about how funny I was, and this encouraged me to go into comedy. However, I didn’t take their words seriously; I just went about being myself. The rate at which people spoke about my talent prompted me to purchase CDs at that time of comedians like Basket Mouth, I Go Die, among others. I paid attention to the way they delivered their jokes on stage; it inspired me, and I made up my mind to give comedy a try.”

The comedian’s career is on an upward swing after recording back-to-back success with his headline show tagged The Sammy Joke Experience. Featuring heavyweights in the comedy industry, he has continued to groom the show into one of the most anticipated annual entertainment events in Benin City.
