The Kebbi State Government, led by Dr. Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced that it has fulfilled 75% of its electoral promises, nearly two years into its administration.

The state government highlighted massive infrastructure projects across roads, schools, motor parks, healthcare, agriculture, information services, and electricity aimed at improving residents’ quality of life and economic opportunities.

Speaking with Vanguard, Commissioner of Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed-BK, emphasized the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, stating that:

Salaries, pensions, gratuities, leave allowances, and death benefits have been fully paid with zero outstanding liabilities.

No loans or overdrafts have been taken, maintaining fiscal independence.

Massive food distribution efforts have supported vulnerable populations, including 500 trailer loads of food already distributed and 300 more trailers set for distribution before Ramadan.

The government’s performance was reflected in a mega rally held on February 19, 2025, at the Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi, attended by:

Former Kebbi governors, two ministers, and high-ranking officials

Over 250 private organizations from all 21 local government areas

Grassroots supporters backing Governor Idris and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Ahmed-BK noted that the rally was privately funded, emphasizing its neutrality and community-driven nature.

Road construction: Major urban roads in Birnin Kebbi and Yauri completed; Argungu upgrade ongoing; Zuru Emirate next.

87km Koko-Zuru Road reconstruction underway to boost agriculture and trade.

Farmer empowerment: Free fertilizer distribution to increase crop yield and food security.

The commissioner concluded that these accomplishments reflect why Kebbi residents overwhelmingly support the APC government, hinting at strong prospects for the party in the 2027 elections.
