…Says Party Yet to Elect New Executive

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its recognition of the Dr. Tony Aziegbemi-led 10-member Caretaker Committee as the legitimate leadership of the party in Edo State.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, clarified that the party has not yet conducted elections for a new State Executive Committee. He warned against the activities of certain individuals illegally parading themselves as party executives.

Ologunagba stated, “The PDP’s attention has been drawn to the activities of certain individuals who are illegally arrogating offices to themselves, issuing unauthorized directives, and attempting to convene meetings. These actions are detrimental to the stability of our party in Edo State.”

He further emphasized that the Edo State Chapter is currently under the leadership of a Caretaker Committee appointed by the National Working Committee (NWC) pursuant to Section 29 (2)(b) of the PDP Constitution. The committee is responsible for overseeing party affairs until a new State Executive is elected.

For clarity, the PDP reiterated that the legally recognized leadership in Edo State consists of:

Hon. Harrison Omagbon

Hon. Fidel Igenegbale

Hon. Chris Nehikhare

Warning Against Impostors

The party cautioned that any individuals illegally claiming to be part of the Edo State PDP Executive will be treated as impostors.

“The PDP has not elected a new Executive for Edo State. Any person acting contrary to this directive risks disciplinary action, as stipulated by the party’s constitution (as amended in 2017),” Ologunagba warned.

The PDP urged all leaders, stakeholders, and members in Edo State to remain united, vigilant, and cooperative with the Caretaker Committee in the interest of the party and the people.
