ABUJA – Leaders and representatives from various ethnic nationalities and professional bodies in the Niger Delta have expressed their gratitude for the renewed peace in the region, highlighting the significant transformations in its narrative.
They acknowledged the pivotal role of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in fostering sustainable development and community empowerment.
A statement issued by prominent stakeholders, including Prof. Benjamin Okaba, Sen. Emmanuel Ibok Essien, Olorugun Ese Gams, Prof. Chris Akpotu, Prof. Simeon Achinewu, Prof. Atuboyedia W. Obianime, Engr. Olu Andah Wai-Ogosu, Chief Edward Okpoko, Mr. Dominic Saatah, Prof. Emenike Wami, Sir Essang Nsa Bassey KJW, Chief Ita Ante, High Chief Thompson Fouye, Elder T. K. Ogiriba, Dr. Aziba-Aloaguo Seibofa, Dr. Ken Robinson, Elder Marshal Kunoun, Hon. D. D. Kalsuo, Archbishop Emmanuel Julius Ediwe, Legborsi Pyagbara, Chief (Barr.) Ebiegberi Domo-Spiff, Ph.D, Mni, Amb. Kennedy Tonjo West, Hon. MCPrince Mbu, Hon. Daniel Oyowe, Comrade Mogbitse G. Okitikpi, Amb. Hope Havard Erekosima, Deacon Felix Etela, Chief Ken Odiowei, Amb. Amain Winston Cortterel, Comrade Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha, Comrade Charles Omusuku, Prof. Hilary Wordu, Chief Theniel Godgift, and Bishop Victor Thomas, emphasised the steadfast support from the Federal Government and the National Assembly for the Niger Delta through the NDDC.
The leaders noted that the President’s commitment to the region has been instrumental in enhancing the operations of the NDDC, enabling it to fulfil its mandate more effectively.
The stakeholders praised the NDDC for its focus on skill acquisition, educational support, and entrepreneurial development, which have transformed lives and restored confidence in the Commission’s activities.
They also commended the proactive oversight from the National Assembly, which has ensured that the unique needs of the region remain prioritised in developmental initiatives.
The current Board and Management of the NDDC were recognised for their strategic initiatives in addressing core developmental challenges within the communities.
The leaders reiterated their commitment to collaborating with the NDDC and the Federal Government to build upon the foundation of progress.
They called for continued support from all stakeholders to advance the shared vision of sustainable growth and peace in the Niger Delta.
The statement reads: “We write as leaders and representatives of ethnic nationalities, critical stakeholders, and members of professional bodies across the Niger Delta to express our gratitude for the renewed peace in our region.
“We sincerely thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as the leadership and members of the National Assembly, and other key policymakers for their steadfast support for the Niger Delta through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the sustainable development of the Niger Delta have significantly enhanced the operations of the NDDC and enabled the Commission to fulfil its mandate more effectively.
