Ondo Youths to Senator: Step up or step aside over non-Performance

… “I’ve Done My Best,” Ipinsagba Responds

The Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Jide Ipinsagba, has been accused by youths in his constituency of underperforming during his 20 months in office.

In an open letter, the youths, led by their spokesperson, Ife Ajibuwa, expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as a lack of tangible achievements and urged the senator to either improve his performance or step down.

Ajibuwa criticized Ipinsagba’s tenure, emphasizing gaps in human empowerment and development programs.

“It is imperative to have an honest conversation about the critical gaps in your leadership, particularly in human empowerment,” he said.

He lamented the lack of progress in youth development, skill acquisition, and job creation, issues critical in Ondo North, where unemployment remains a significant challenge.

“Where is the promised ‘Renewed Hope’? Where is the leadership that inspired the trust of those who voted for you?” Ajibuwa asked.

The youths pointed out the senator’s failure to fully utilize available opportunities such as constituency project funds, government partnerships, and private sector collaborations. They expressed frustration at the absence of tangible impacts, including job facilitation, business grants, and scholarships.

“It is troubling that you have not facilitated employment for even one single individual in Ondo North,” Ajibuwa added.

The letter urged the senator to prioritize programs that empower constituents, including small business grants, scholarships, and job creation initiatives, instead of distributing food items like rice, which they deemed insufficient.

“This is not meant to be negative or combative; it is a wake-up call. The people of Ondo North are growing impatient. The clock is ticking, and the message is clear: step up or step aside,” the letter concluded.

In response, Senator Ipinsagba described the allegations of non-performance as unfounded, citing several achievements within his 20 months in office.

“I have made monumental achievements within the last one and a half years to improve the lives of our people and foster sustainable development in Ondo North,” he said.

Ipinsagba highlighted initiatives such as empowering farmers, distributing fertilizers, and constructing a health center as part of his contributions.

“These accusations of non-performance are untrue. I remain committed to delivering results for my constituents and addressing their needs,” the senator added.

While Senator Ipinsagba has defended his record, the youths of Ondo North are adamant that more needs to be done. With time running out, the pressure is on for the senator to deliver meaningful impacts before the end of his tenure.
