Tinubu to depart Abuja Saturday for sustainability summit in Abu Dhabi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Saturday for the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), which will take place from January 12 to 18 in the United Arab Emirates.

This annual summit, initiated by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, serves as a platform to advance global discussions on sustainability.

According to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser, ADSW will bring together world leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to foster sustainable development and create new pathways for socioeconomic progress. Onanuga highlighted that the event would also offer an opportunity for leaders from business, civil society, and government to explore strategies for accelerating the transition to a sustainable economy.

“ADSW, a testament to the power of collaboration, has been held annually for over 15 years. It provides a global platform to foster multi-stakeholder cooperation in addressing global challenges and accelerating growth,” Onanuga said. “It has birthed high-value agreements and strategic partnerships between governments, industry leaders, and clean energy pioneers worldwide, driving impactful alliances and advancing the sustainability agenda worldwide.”

At the summit, President Tinubu will showcase his administration’s reforms in key areas such as energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development. Additionally, he will engage with UAE leaders to discuss bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

Tinubu will be accompanied by Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other senior government officials. The president is expected to return to Nigeria on January 16.
