A’IBOM: Senator lauds Watbridge for elevating status of hospitality industry

THE Minority leader of the 10th senate of the federal republic of Nigeria, Senator Patrick Abba Moro has lauded the management of Watbridge for elevating status of hospitality industry in Akwa Ibom State.

According to a statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Uyo, Senator Moro who represents Benue South gave the commendation while in inauguratng Watbridge Hotels’ guest pharmacy in Uyo, ahead of the New Year celebration.

Moro according to the statement described the innovation as unique in hospitality and charged the people to make judicious use of the wellness facility.

“I charge hotels and other hospitality outfits to borrow a leaf from Watbridge and prioritize healthcare and security of their guests. I’ve been in hotels, even internationally; I’ve never seen a hotel where a pharmacy and library are attached to it.

“This hotel, outside providing accommodation, also cares about people’s health, and not just the guests, but the generality of the people of Uyo”

In his remarks earlier, Acting General Manager of Watbridge, Mr Emmanuel Ntia asserted that for six years Watbridge has continued to upholds very high standards, and has remained a key player in the hospitality industry in Akwa Ibom State.

“Today, Watbridge is adding a pharmacy for its guests. And that’s a high point for this year. And I commend the staff of the hotel for their service and hard work in putting Watbridge on the front burner in the hospitality industry”, Ntia added.

He, on behalf of the Board, thanked the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, Edidem Sylvanus Okon, for gracing the event, stressing that his presence signifies that the hotel means well for the people of the community and Uyo as a local government area.

Other dignitaries in the health and security sectors that witnessed the official opening of the wellness center were Prof. Etete Peters, a former Chief Medical Director, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), Dr. Patrick Eshiet, Permanent Secretary Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health,  former Police Public Relations Officer in the state command CSP Odiko MacDon.

Among other dignitaries at the event were  the senator, representing Akwa Ibom South and Chairman of Watbridge Hotel’s Board,  Senator Ekong Sampson and his wife and, Senator Joel Onowakpo, representing Delta South.
