The General Overseer, Olive Mountain of Prayer and Praise Ministry International has empowered the less privileged ones both in and outside his ministry during the yuletide. This is an annual empowerment exercise the church carries out every year to give back to the society. The church also encourages other religious organisations to impact positively in the environment they operate and the society at large.
During the empower exercise at the church headquarter, Ijegu, Lagos, the Founder, Prophet Collins Timothy said, “I didn’t learn it, it was something that has been in me, and I started earlier in my life. I know there is a blessing when you share the burdens of the less privileged ones in the society. Again, when I was growing up, I suffered a lot, even though I had a father who was a head of church but he concentrated on his ministry. I did a lot of hard jobs to sponsor my secondary education. That even affected me furthering my higher institution. My mother struggled to help me while in the village”.
Prophet Collins said that the suffering I went through taught me many lessons. “So I can easily detect when people are going through difficult, pain, especially windows in deed, because my mother also suffered. So, I decided that each time I traveling to village to see my mother, I would buy different food items and for her for widows to share”.
However, when my father died I continued it because I started it while he was alive. I was inspired to do it since my growing up”.
According to Prophet Collins, today, the economic challenges, hunger, poverty and high cost of living in the land, has called for well able Nigerians, companies, government, religious organisations who can help to empowerment the less privileged ones in the society should not relent in their efforts. “Things are difficult in the country and the poor are crying daily”. He further said that the insecurity in the country today is as a result of hunger, poverty and unemployment, saying that when a man is hungry, the devil can push him to do what he never planned to do.
“I herebyI call upon the government to solve the problem of hunger and provide foods for her citizens at affordable rate. Prices of food is high in the country today that the masses find it difficult to afford You can see that the amount of money spent to fill car tank is the same amount a bag of rice is sold in the market.
Today, a bag of rice is N90,000 to N100,000. How many poor Nigerians can afford it.”
He further advised religious leaders that since members pay tithe, give offering and free will donation, church leaders should do well in helping their members and the society. “Let us contribute our quota to support our country”.
