Fawaz, a student enrolled in CAIN Africa’s Daily Tutorial Program, faced significant challenges in English, marked by poor performance and a disengaged attitude. His prospects seemed bleak, but thanks to the dedicated support and hands-on guidance of the English tutor at CAIN Africa, Fawaz’s grades steadily improved—from an F to a D, then a C. In 2023, he achieved his first A in English and has since become one of the top-performing students in his class.

At just 21, May Oghenerukeme Asagba embarked on a pivotal service trip to Alimosho, Lagos, one of the largest underserved communities in the city. She and her team were confronted with shocking realities: overcrowded classrooms, disengaged students, and a severe lack of basic learning materials.

These conditions exposed the deep-rooted failures of the local education system. Despite their initial donations of whiteboards and textbooks, it became clear that one-off efforts were insufficient to create lasting change. This sparked a bold vision — to build something sustainable. Thus, CAIN Africa’s first Educational Resource Centre was born.

Strategically located in the heart of Alimosho, the Centre offers free, long-term support through a holistic and innovative approach, empowering underprivileged students with the education and skills they need to compete globally. This unique model stands as a beacon of hope, providing not just knowledge, but a pathway out of poverty for thousands.

By situating the facility directly within the community, it ensures access to quality learning close to home and school. Every service and program is entirely free, ensuring that poverty is never a roadblock to a child’s education. Through this innovative approach, CAIN Africa is providing hope and opportunity where there once was none.

Since its founding, CAIN Africa has transformed the lives of more than 10,000 individuals through its visionary programs, sparking meaningful change across Africa. In Jeida, a remote village near Abuja, CAIN Africa, alongside Crossbonds and the Presbyterian Church, launched a landmark initiative that established a school, healthcare center, a water pump, and a farm, significantly improving the education, health, and economic well-being of over 2,000 residents.

Stories like that of 11-year-old Flourish highlight the life-changing impact of CAIN Africa’s efforts in communities with limited resources. Flourish, alongside her brother, walks 5 kilometers daily to attend the school — the only one in the area offering affordable, quality education. For children like her, the journey is one of the daily sacrifices they make for access to an education that was once out of reach.

In Lagos, CAIN Africa’s Free Daily Tutorials have helped over 1,000 underprivileged students excel academically and pursue higher education. Additionally, the newly introduced ICT4U initiative has already empowered 24 students with critical digital skills. Through partnerships with Jobberman and Metanoia Africa, CAIN Africa has also trained youths across Africa in essential soft skills, preparing them for brighter futures.

With over $200,000 in funds and resources, CAIN Africa has implemented over 13 impactful projects which have earned recognition from UNESCO, BBC, The Clinton Global Initiative, and TEDx, cementing its legacy of transformation.

Recognizing that hunger can be a significant obstacle to learning, CAIN Africa initiated both a Christmas Food Drive and a Monthly Food Drive. These heartwarming efforts have delivered essential nutrition to over 1,818 individuals from 367 families, easing the burden of hunger for many in underprivileged communities. In recognition of its profound impact, CAIN Africa was honored with the prestigious Top 20 Luminary Changemakers Award in 2024—a testament to its unwavering commitment to community service and empowerment.
