…says Nigerians deserve hope, joy

ABUJA – AS Nigerians celebrate Christmas and New Year, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Saturday, donated massively to over 1,000 widows in Abia State.

Onyejeocha explained that the gifts were given to be support, comfort and hope for the beneficiaries despite they have lost their loved ones who served as pillars in their lives but God in His own way has brought succour to them in order to soothe their pain and put smile on their faces and also to have a sense of belonging in the celebration of the yuletide, and added that “they are not forgotten.”

Meanwhile, she also made it known that the donation was part of her larger initiative to support communities in Abia State during this season, which also was her second in just three days, depicting her commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the society.

The over 1, 000 widows who gathered at her country home, where each received 5kg of rice, pair of wrappers, and cash gifts to celebrate the yuletide season.

The beneficiaries were visibly overwhelmed with emotion as they received their gifts. Many expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Minister for her kindness and generosity and offered prayers to God for His protection and promotion.

It would be recalled that the Minister had on Christmas eve distributed over 500 bags of 25kg of rice to some Abia communities and announced that it was the first of five phases of giving she had planned for the Yuletide season.

He said: “Motivation for the second phase of these annual gesture, was to provide support and comfort to those who have lost their loved ones, and to remind them that they are not forgotten.

“The importance of giving to these people during this season cannot be overstated. It is a time when kindness, generosity, and compassion can bring hope and joy to those who need it most. By so doing, we do not only improve their lives and give them a sense of hope, but also enrich our own.

“As we celebrate the joy and love of the season, it is really important that we remember those who are struggling to make ends meet,” she noted.

Over the years, her constituency has come to appreciate the Onyejeocha’s selfless efforts, which have made a significant impact on the lives of the widows and their families.
