Mlex Songz Becomes First LMA International Brand Ambassador and Role Model

Mlex Songz, a Nigerian singer, songwriter, cinematographer, and entrepreneur, has been honored as the first international brand ambassador and role model for the Leadership and Model Awards (LMA). LMA is a global showbiz media platform that operates across 17 African countries, Asia, Europe, and America, celebrating outstanding leaders, models, beauty queens, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and business moguls. The founder, Dr. Olubogu Ifeanyi Petwise, presented the honor, acknowledging Mlex’s remarkable passion and consistency in his career, which continues to inspire the younger generation.

Born Alex Obehi Usiabulu on June 3, 1992, in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria, Mlex’s music journey began between 2000 and 2004 when he worked as a backup singer for his cousin. Inspired by this early experience, he started creating his own music between 2005 and 2009. His talent was first recognized on a national level in 2012, when he participated in a national inter-school music competition and academy award. Mlex emerged as the second runner-up in the individual category. The event featured prominent figures like K1 De Ultimate and Dr. Olando Julius Ekemode, as well as guest artists Olamide and Vector. This pivotal moment motivated him to pursue music more actively.

In 2016, Mlex signed a record deal with Megalpoint Records, marking the beginning of his professional music career. That year, he released his debut single, Love Rain, followed by another hit titled New Season. Both songs received positive reviews from music critics and gained significant airplay on Nigerian radio and television stations. Under Megalpoint Records, Mlex had his first music video and performed at a show alongside comedians Kenny Blaq and Seyilaw in 2018.

The record label also launched an annual concert series for Mlex in 2019, titled Best of Me. The debut edition, held on August 11, 2019, featured Mlex performing all his songs live with a band. Although the second edition was postponed due to the pandemic, the platform remains a significant milestone in his career. Mlex’s talent has gained international recognition. In 2019, he was nominated for the Diaspora Award Italia in Milan, Italy, in the artist category. Between 2018 and 2019, he served as the lead vocalist for an Italian band, L’Hub Musicale. During this period, he also released an acoustic guitar remix of Love Rain, which was featured in a regional Italian newspaper and broadcast on local radio stations. Currently, Mlex works as the official hype man for Club K2 in Italy. In September 2019, the club hosted Nigerian music legend 2Baba to celebrate his 20 years in the industry, and Mlex had the opportunity to perform alongside him.

He also interacted with Tekno during the latter’s visit to Turin, Italy, in October 2019. Mlex’s versatility extends beyond music. He is also a cinematographer and photographer with MegalpointTV in Italy. In 2020, he briefly served as the assistant secretary of the Entertainers Hall of Fame Worldwide, where he made a notable impact before resigning. Throughout his career, Mlex has shared stages with mainstream artists and comedians such as Kenny Blaq, Seyilaw, Dr. Olando Julius Ekemode, Sir Victor Uwaifo, and other pioneers of Nigerian highlife music. His mastery of various music genres, including Reggae, Afrobeat, R&B, and Hip-Hop, showcases his artistic versatility.

Now recognized as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Nigerian Community in Turin, Italy, Mlex Songz continues to build a legacy that inspires future generations while cementing his status as a global talent and role model.
