The Governor of Borno State, Engr. Prof. Babagana Zulum, CON, has expressed his willingness to host the 2026 National Conference of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) in Maiduguri, subject to the approval of the NSE Council.

This announcement was made as Gov. Zulum reiterated his support for the NSE and engineering advancement during a special dinner held in honor of the NSE National Executive Committee at the conclusion of their three-day retreat in Maiduguri.

The dinner served as the closing highlight of a retreat designed to align the 2024 leadership and incoming 2025 executives with the Society’s strategic goals and ongoing projects.

The NSE President, Engr. Margaret Oguntala, FNSE, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Zulum for hosting the 2024 and 2025 NSE Executive Committee Retreat in Maiduguri. She commended the Governor’s unwavering commitment to engineering excellence and infrastructure development, which are hallmarks of his administration.

The retreat featured a warm reception led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bukar Tijjani, alongside the State Executive Council, Borno Elders, and members of the Borno Business Community. The event was further enriched by colorful performances from the State’s cultural troupes.

As part of the retreat, members of the National Executive Committee embarked on an infrastructure tour to assess some of Governor Zulum’s flagship projects.
