Makurdi – The Benue State Police Command on Thursday, said it has put a water-tight security in place for the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the state.

Jonathan is visiting the state from today, to commission projects built by the Benue State Government.

The command’s PPRO, ASP. Alaribe Ejike, said in a telephone interview that the command got reenforcement from neighbouring states to ensure tight security during the visit.

“Anybody who thinks he can use the opportunity of the President’s visit to disturb the peace we enjoy here is in for a suprise.

“We are not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that his visit is hitch-free,” the police spokesman said.

Ejike noted that the security put in place was not just for the purpose of the President’s visit but to protect lives and property of residents of the state.

He warned mischief makers to desist from evil plots, adding that police search light was everywhere and that any offender caught would be dealt with.

The police spokesman appealed to the general public to partner with the police by being security-conscious and to report suspicious activities capable of disrupting the President’s visit to the police.

Observation  in Makurdi showed that motorists were subjected to security checks by policemen at various checkpoints.(NAN)
