How Africa can lead in tech world – Aroh, CEO of Kodex Africa

In this exclusive interview, we sit down with Mr. Aroh Stanley Chukwudi, the visionary CEO of Kodex Africa, to discuss the organization’s remarkable journey, its groundbreaking innovations, and their impact on Africa’s tech ecosystem.

Kodex Africa has a unique approach to tech education and development. Can you share what sets your organization apart from others in the space?

At Kodex Africa, our uniqueness lies in our holistic approach to tech education. We don’t just teach; we empower. We combine theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience, ensuring our students can easily transition into real-world scenarios. Through our subsidiaries—Kodex Academy, Kodex Build, and The Space NG—we provide a 360-degree ecosystem where individuals can learn, collaborate, and innovate.

Kodex Africa started as an academy and has grown into a multifaceted organization. How has this evolution shaped your mission?

Our evolution reflects our core belief that knowledge is the foundation of progress. Starting as a humble academy in 2021, we’ve expanded our mission to not only educate but also drive technological innovation across Africa. Today, our subsidiaries allow us to offer a broader range of services while staying true to our vision of empowering Africa’s brightest minds.

Kodex Academy offers a wide range of courses. How do you ensure the quality of education across such diverse fields?

Quality is a cornerstone of everything we do. We have a rigorous process for selecting instructors, most of whom are industry veterans and open-source contributors. Our curriculum is continually updated to reflect industry trends, and we emphasize project-based learning, which is crucial for mastering skills.

How does Kodex Africa prepare its students to be job-ready immediately after graduation?

We are very project-minded at Kodex Africa. By the time our students graduate, they’ve already built projects that mirror real-world scenarios, like advanced e-commerce platforms, banking systems, logistics applications, and school management solutions. These final projects are intense, requiring students to apply everything they’ve learned.

Our collaboration with top instructors and open-source experts has been pivotal. For instance, we’ve heavily utilized the Code With Jude YouTube Course to structure our banking system projects. Jude’s resources are comprehensive and he’s been incredibly supportive, even answering inquiries from our students. By the time they graduate, our students have the equivalent of 2–3 years of work experience.

Kodex Build focuses on product development. Can you share some standout projects or achievements from this subsidiary?

Kodex Build has been a powerhouse of innovation. We’ve developed solutions ranging from fintech applications to logistics management systems. One notable project is a blockchain-based school management system that simplifies administrative processes while ensuring data security. These projects showcase the depth of expertise and innovation our team brings to the table.

What inspired the creation of The Space NG, and how has it impacted the tech community in Africa?

The Space NG was born out of our desire to foster collaboration and creativity. We wanted to create a physical and virtual hub where entrepreneurs, professionals, and creatives could come together to share ideas, work on projects, and grow. The impact has been profound, with several startups forming through connections made in our space.

What role do you see Kodex Africa playing in shaping Africa’s tech future?

We envision Kodex Africa as a catalyst for Africa’s tech revolution. By equipping individuals with cutting-edge skills and fostering innovation, we’re not just filling the talent gap; we’re creating a new generation of tech leaders who will drive economic growth and societal change across the continent.

How do you ensure inclusivity and accessibility in your programs?

Inclusivity is a core value at Kodex Africa. We offer scholarships and subsidized courses for underprivileged individuals. Additionally, our online platforms allow students from remote areas to access our resources. Our aim is to eliminate barriers to quality tech education.

What challenges has Kodex Africa faced, and how have you overcome them?

Scaling while maintaining quality has been a significant challenge. We’ve tackled this by investing in top-tier instructors, leveraging open-source resources, and staying adaptive to industry changes. The pandemic also tested our resilience, but it pushed us to strengthen our online learning infrastructure.

What advice would you give to aspiring technologists in Africa?

Stay curious, and never stop learning. The tech industry is ever-evolving, so adaptability is key. Surround yourself with a supportive community—mentors, peers, and organizations like Kodex Africa can provide the guidance and resources you need to succeed.

Finally, where do you see Kodex Africa in the next five years?

In five years, we aim to expand our reach across Africa, impacting millions of lives through education and innovation. We also plan to launch more advanced courses, build more strategic partnerships, and establish Kodex Africa as a global name in tech education and development.
