Former House of Representatives member for Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Stephen Olemija, along with former Akoko North East Chairman and recent PDP candidate for the House of Reps by-election, Lekan Bada, have joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a major show of support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s re-election campaign.

Other prominent PDP chieftains from the Akoko North East council area have also defected to the APC.

Governor Aiyedatiwa received these new supporters during his campaign tour across Ondo State, where he and his running mate, Dr. Olayide Adelami, engaged with residents and visited traditional rulers in communities including Iboropa, Akunnu, and Ikare Akoko. The governor described the widespread support as a reflection of his administration’s positive impact on the state.

During a visit to Ikare Akoko, the local government headquarters, Aiyedatiwa received royal blessings from Oba Akadiri Momoh, the Olukare of Ikare, and Oba Adeleke Adegbite, the Owa-Ale of Iyometa Ikare. Expressing gratitude for their support, the governor acknowledged the role of these monarchs in his emergence as the APC candidate, attributing his success in the primaries to their prayers and encouragement.

In response to requests from the royal fathers, Aiyedatiwa pledged to incorporate their priorities into the 2025 budget, affirming his administration’s commitment to equitable development across Ondo State.

“If elected, we will intensify our efforts to prioritize the welfare of every citizen,” Aiyedatiwa promised, adding, “I am deeply moved by the overwhelming support from the people of Ikare. Your dedication to our vision for a better Ondo State fills me with immense pride. Ikare has always symbolized progress, and your loyalty reassures us that our work is appreciated.”

The governor highlighted key achievements of his administration, including improvements in infrastructure, agriculture, and education. “Together, we have upgraded our roads, strengthened agriculture, and invested in our schools. However, there is still more to achieve. With your support on November 16, we can deliver further transformation and growth for Ondo State,” he concluded.
