The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will declare open the 6th African International Development Organisation, AIDO, conference as Chief Host, organisers have said.

According to Princess Afoma Ojei-Adigwe, Country Representative, AIDO Nigeria, the event kicking off Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, at the Federal Palace in Lagos, will have delegates from countries including the UK, Guyana, Canada, Germany, the US, Kenya, Uganda and Jamaica.

This year’s convention themed ‘A United Global Africa: Reconnecting through Culture, Pan-Africanism, Trade, and Investment’, Ojei-Adigwe explained, aims to unite Africans in the Diaspora, African leaders, global influencers, industry pioneers, royals, heads of government, and entrepreneurs.
It also seeks to build on the successes of previous conventions held in Kenya, Germany, the UK, and the US.

She confirmed that traditional rulers from across Nigeria have been mobilised to welcome the delegates and confer honours on those primarily of African descendants, along with other prominent Nigerians in various fields of human endeavours.

Also speaking, Prince Bimbo Folayan, Founder, Nigerian Diaspora Direct Investment Summit, and Member, AIDO International Network Advisory Board, added that the event will also be attended by global investors who will meet with Nigerian business leaders to explore partnership opportunities.

“Also expected at the convention scheduled to last till November 10th, include over 300 participants from Africa, the US, the Caribbean, the UK, Germany, and other European countries.

“For many attendees, this marks their first visit to Nigeria, viewed as a significant “Home Coming” to reconnect with their heritage and explore business opportunities,” he added.

Also known as the Ateker International Development Organisation, AIDO is a London-based non-profit with chapters and affiliated traditional leaders across various African nations. The Nigerian chapter was launched earlier this year.
