The Chairman, Enugu State Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRM, Igwe Ikechukwu Asadu, on Monday, handed a three bedroom bungalow to a childless widow, Cordelia Aguiyi, at Ozzi Edem, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Igwe Asadu, who is a member, Board of Trustees, Council of Traditional Rulers of Africa and the immediate past Chairman of South East Traditional Rulers’ Council, while opening the bungalow for the widow, enjoined the well-to-dos in the society to always reach out to the less privileged.

He equally enjoined members of the community to always love one another and to be a source of blessing to others.

“I am seeing Mrs. Cordelia Aguiyi, the beneficiary of this gesture for the first time in my life. I did this to light the candle of love in Ozzi Edem community so that others who have the wherewithal to alleviate the plight of the downtrodden in our communities can follow suit.

Let this be a signal for peace, love and progress in Ozzi Edem. This is the ninth home I built for the people of Edem because of the love I have for them.

“I urge all of you to be your brothers keepers and to extend helping hands to humanity no matter how little. On the last day, God will ask us how we used the blessings He endowed us with.

“God appointed me to serve you and I will do it to the best of my ability. What I did here is not to win political favour because I am not vying for any political position.

“Because of the love and support you have for me, you made me your traditional ruler. Just after a year and four months you made me your traditional ruler, the Governor of Enugu State made me Chairman of Enugu State Traditional Rulers’ Council. Similarly, after a year and six months, I was made the Chairman of South East Traditional Rulers’ Council. I want you to live in peace because more things are coming,” he said.

While expressing her gratitude, the beneficiary, Mrs. Aguiyi, who said that she was overwhelmed with joy over the monarch’s generosity on her, prayed God to bless him abundantly.

She recalled how her father had prayed for the monarch when he inaugurated a 20-bed hospital where members of the community receive free medicare, proclaiming that God would continue to increase him.

Members of the community including the youth leader of Ozzi Edem, Chijioke Nwoke, and the sister to the beneficiary, Mrs. Eucharia Asogwa, among others who gathered to celebrate with the beneficiary, equally prayed for God’s blessings on the monarch.
