Kaduna – Former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, has urged Muslims and other Nigerians to promote peace and understanding among one another this Sallah period and always, adding that it is only in a peaceful atmosphere that the desired growth and development could be achieved.

Also, the Presidential candidate of the Republican Party of Nigeria (RPN),in the 2007 election, Chief Sunny Okogwu, has congratulated Muslims in the country for successfully observing the Ramadan and celebrating the Sallah.

He, however, said President Umaru  Yar’Adua should have used the occasion of the Ramadan to pardon prisoners especially those in Kaduna State.

Okogwu spoke to newsmen in his Ship House, Kaduna, yesterday, saying “even the Almighty Allah forgives those who have sinned against Him. President Yar’Adua should have pardoned such prisoners to reduce the problem of prison congestion in the country.”

The business mogul, however, criticised the attitude of some Nigerians who he said deliberately misinterpreted religion wrongly to cause disharmony even as he  prayed for continued peace and progress of the country.
