THE Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and his counterpart, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, have vowed to defend Nigeria’s democracy, noting that soldiers would not be used to undemocratically sail any interest to power.

Lagbaja, made this known on Tuesday in his remarks at the opening ceremony of the week-long Chief of Army Staff combined second and third quarters conference 2024, holding in Uyo Akwa Ibom State capital.

According to him: “As Chief of Army Staff, the Nigerian Army will not allow itself to be used to undemocratically sail some interests to power.

Armed Forces will Continually Defend Democracy in Nigeria – Musa

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has assured the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are ready to continually defend democracy in Nigeria.

General Musa showed appreciation to the minister for his support to the AFN towards the unhindered discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

He noted that to a greater extent, the Military has been able to decimate the activities of terrorists, insurgence and other criminals operating in the country.

“The AFN in collaboration with other security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of critical government assets and to ensure increase in oil production to boost economic activities” the CDS said.
