Born and raised in Benin City, Edo State, Paul Otasowie Ajayi, known by his stage name Nito-P, has become a figure in the Afro Hip-Hop and Afrobeats genres.

At 31, Nito-P has crafted a distinct sound characterized by “undiluted flows” and poignant lyrics that set him apart in the competitive industry.

Nito-P’s journey began in 2012, inspired by legendary Nigerian rapper Dagrin. “I remember the first time I heard Dagrin,” Nito-P recalls with a smile. “It was like a light bulb went off in my head. His music spoke to me in a way that nothing else had before. That was my ‘aha’ moment. I knew I wanted to create music that could move people the way his music moved me.”

His passion for music took root during his university years where he was encouraged and supported by friends who believed in his talent. Reflecting on his early days, Nito-P says, “My friends were instrumental in getting my foot in the door. Their belief in me gave me the confidence to pursue music seriously. We would spend countless nights just writing, rapping, and dreaming big. Those moments were crucial in shaping my career.”

Despite being based in London, his Nigerian roots remain a strong influence in his music. “Nigeria is in my blood,” he states proudly. “Everything I create is a reflection of my heritage, my experiences growing up in Benin City, and the vibrant culture that surrounds us. London has given me a global perspective, but my heart and soul are always rooted in Nigeria.”

Nito-P’s sound is a blend of Afro Hip-Hop and Afrobeats, resonating with his cultural heritage. “I describe my sound as a rapper with undiluted flows,” he explains. “It’s raw, it’s real, and it comes straight from the heart. My lyrics are my truth, and I think that’s what resonates with people.”

Over the years, Nito-P has released several notable projects, including the “MOST WANTED” EP and two singles, “GHETTO LIFE” and “ODOGWU.” Each release showcases his versatility and growth as an artist. “MOST WANTED was a turning point for me,” he says. “It was my first major project, and it gave me the chance to really express myself. ‘GHETTO LIFE’ and ‘ODOGWU’ are personal favorites because they tell stories of struggle, resilience, and triumph. They’re about my journey and the journey of so many others,” he concludes.

As he prepares for the release of his debut album, fans can expect a project that not only highlights Nito-P’s lyrical prowess but also his dedication to uplifting the next generation of musicians.
