Xmas day bombing: Ona of Abaji regains freedom

By Favour Nnabugwu
ABUJA—Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Yunusa, has been released after he was picked up for questioning, last Friday, by the police over the escape of a member of Boko Haram sect, Kabir Umar, alias Kabir Sokoto.

Umar is the alleged mastermind of the Christmas Day bomb blast at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, in Suleja, Niger State.

Vanguard investigations revealed that the Ohinoyi of Garinya, heads of Garki, Gwagwalada, Kwali and chieftains from Kaduna, besieged the Ona’s palace to pay him solidarity visits.

The traditional ruler, who was busy attending to visitors, declined to speak to Vanguard on the killing of Awal Inuwa Ashafa and Kabir Sokoto’s escape. He said the issues were tied to national security.

However, Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Zone 7, Abuja, Zakari Biu, who was blamed for negligence over the escape has been placed under house arrest.
