.... leads state delegation to strategic meeting in Asaba
Edo State Deputy Governor, Engr Marvellous Godwins Omobayo says Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has the capacity of delivering on the mandate of touching lives of the people and enhancing economic prosperity of the Niger Delta Region.
Eng. Omobayo who led a powerful state delegation on behalf of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki to the 6th meeting of the National Council on Niger Delta, NCND, made the remark in Asaba, Delta State.
He said: “The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has the capacity to change the narrative of delivering on its mandate of touching lives of the people and enhancing economic prosperity of the Niger Delta Region.
“NDDC as an interventionist agency, under the supervision of the Ministry of Niger Delta, was determined to reinvent itself in the provision of people-oriented projects that will engender the overall development of the nine Niger Delta States.”
The meeting with the theme: “Stimulating Strategies for Economic Growth and Development in the Niger Delta Region” was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Niger Delta, in collaboration with the Delta State Government and Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
The thŕee-day strategic meeting which featured a technical session on the way forward for the region, was declared opened by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu.
The event attracted critical stakeholders, including the host governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, lmo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma and other governors of the Niger Delta Region, represented by their deputies.
Also in attendance were the Ministers of Niger Delta Development Commission, Engr Abubakar Momoh, Chairmen, Senate and House of Representatives on NNDC, traditional rulers, amongst others.
A communique is expected to be issued at the end of the meeting which will serve as a comprehensive blue-print for the development of the Niger Delta Region.
