Fulani leaders (Ardos) under the aegis of Fulbe United for Peace and Development have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fulfil the promises he made to them during his campaign and his pledge to address their challenges as a group.
Speaking during their quarterly National and Zonal Leadership Consultative Meeting in Abuja, president of the association, Ardo Aliyu Liman Bobboyi said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made promises to the Fulanis in the country during his electioneering campaign and they endorsed him as Presidential candidate and mobilized their people to vote for him based on promises to them.
He further said that President Tinubu was endorsed by the Fulanis and conferred with the title of Barkindo of Nigerian Ardos during the endorsement through the Pulaaku covenant.
He said, “This association endorsed Mr President at the International Conference Center when he was running for his office.
“The endorsement was done in the Fulani way of ‘Fulaaku’ which is strong and binding. It was in the presence of thousands of people as witnesses. Most of the leaders that witnessed the occasion have been given responsibilities.
“We have asked the President at the time that, if he wins the election, he should carry along the people that accompanied him and none of them was left behind.
“So, we want to remind the President about the promises he made to Fulanis in Nigeria. We cannot say none of them was fulfilled because the administration still has time ahead. But reminding the President about it is good because anybody expecting something is always eager and impatient.

“Since the government had been in place for a while, we want to see one or two things have been done, we will the have hope that, the rest will follow. So, we are reminding the government to please fulfill the promises they made to the Fulanis in Nigeria.
“They should start taking them one by one so that, we the leaders can have the courage to face our people and say yes, the government is fulfilling its part of the bargain and what we told them about the government being a good one was true”.
Also speaking, the South West Coordinator of the association, who is also the Ardo Abeokuta, Muhammad Kabir Labar said, they want the President to address the challebgws dacing the Fulanis.
“We called on him not to forget about us on all his campaign promises to our communities and every other community in Nigeria as well. We are not calling on him for ourselves only. The Livestock department is one of the most important parts of the livelihood of the Fulani.
“That should be taken care of properly. It should be x-rayed and looked into and examined, so that we now look at how to resolve so many problems that are affecting our communities in cattle production in Nigeria. We are going to write a Communique and present to Mr President on what we demanded and what we expected him to the communities.
“This group is one of the loudest voice of the Fulani leadership in Nigeria. We speak for every Fulani community, not Miyetti Allah alone, every other organisation. If you are a Fulani, if you are a cattle rearer in Nigeria , I think we speak loud and clear for all of us for the benefit of these communities, crises affecting us, every other thing that is affecting our business. That’s what we are here for.
