ABUJA – The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has issued a stirring appeal to leaders and citizens alike, urging governance with wisdom and fairness.
The apex Christian body also called for sacrificial love among the populace as the nation observes the solemnity and joy of Easter.
In a message to the nation, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of CAN, conveyed his sincere wishes for peace, joy, and blessings to all Nigerians during this sacred season.
“As we celebrate Easter, I extend heartfelt wishes of peace, joy, and blessings to all Nigerians on behalf of the national leadership of CAN,” said Archbishop Okoh.
He explained that amidst various socio-economic challenges, Easter emerges as a beacon of hope, symbolizing renewal and redemption.
According to him, it is a period for contemplation of the profound sacrifice made for humanity and the victory of light over darkness.
“Amid our daily challenges and triumphs, Easter stands as a timeless reminder of hope, renewal, and redemption,” the Archbishop emphasized.
The Christian leader also highlighted the significance of Easter’s message in the context of Nigeria’s current state, emphasizing the need for unity and mutual love.
“The lessons of Easter hold particular relevance for Nigerian society today. In a time marked by uncertainty, we are called to embody the virtues of love for one another,” he stated, drawing parallels between Christ’s resurrection and the nation’s potential to overcome adversity.
Transitioning from reflection to action, Archbishop Okoh underscored that Easter is not just a festive occasion but also a summons to transformative leadership and societal unity.
“Let us remember that Easter is not merely a time for celebration but a call to action,” he asserted, urging leaders to lead with integrity and citizens to stand united in the face of adversity.
In a powerful call to action, Archbishop Okoh urged all leaders, at every level, to embrace the lessons of Easter and govern with a focus on the common good.
He invited all citizens to live out the spirit of Easter in their daily interactions.
“I urge all leaders to govern with wisdom, fairness, and a genuine commitment to the common good. I call upon all citizens to embody the spirit of Easter in their daily lives,” he encouraged.
The Archbishop further urged a rededication to the values that bind Nigerians together.
“As we commemorate the resurrection of our Lord, let us also renew our dedication to building a nation that reflects positive values,” Archbishop Okoh concluded.
