LAGOS — IN a bid to ensure that Lagosians have access to genuine and wholesome drugs during the ongoing mass protest against the removal of fuel subsidy, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, PSN, had put in place measures, including retail points, to ensure that patients in Lagos have access to quality drugs

To this end, PSN has designated emergency phone lines for possible purchase of drugs, hospital supplies and medical consumables.

The emergency stores and phone lines are Kardinal Pharmacy, Ikotun, 080 23211448; Kingsland Pharmacy, Satellite Town, 08033974901; Citi-Health Pharmacy, Eti-Osa, 08123216689 and Newton Pharmacy, 08024746556.

Disclosing this in a telephone chat with Vanguard in Lagos, National President of PSN, Azubike Okwor, explained that there would also be skeletal services in the various retail points.

Meanwhile, doctors in the state have continued to offer free emergency medical care to people involved in the mass protest at the various protesting grounds.

Confirming this to Vanguard, Chairman, Lagos State Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Edamisan Temiye said: “Medical treatments are still going on at the various protesting grounds and will continue through out the period of the protest even while we continue to ensure that the hospitals are going on.”

Visits to hospitals across in Lagos revealed that most of them are prepared for emergencies, although offering skeletal services.

At Lagos State University teaching Hospital, LASUTH, it was gathered that many patients were discharged last Friday and only those whose cases are critical are left in the wards. Most of the services are offered by house officers. Vanguard also gathered that patients being attended to were largely people who sustained injuries during the protest.
