Unknown gunmen allegedly kills one, attack Council boss’s hotel in Ebonyi

Unknown gunmen have reportedly attacked a hotel belonging to the Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Mr. Ikechukwu Odono, in the state.

According to reports reaching Vanguard, the gunmen also set ablaze some parts of the hotel, including cars belonging to customers.

It was gathered that the unknown gunmen invaded the Chairman’s Hotel located near Ezziambgo Junction on Sunday night and shot until 5:00 a.m. on Monday morning.

The Vanguard reports that one person, whose name is yet to be identified at the time of this report, was allegedly shot in the course of the attack.

Contacted, the affected local government chairman, who was in shock and in pain over the incident, declined to speak on the incident.

“I don’t want to speak to the press now, on this incident” he stated.

The Ebonyi State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, who reacted to the incident, confirmed the attack on the chairman’s hotel by the unknown gunmen.

He noted that one person was shot and some cars were set ablaze.

This development is currently causing a wave of insecurity in the State as residents of Abakaliki metropolis are now careful about their movements in the State.
