Two persons were killed on Sunday evening in the Rawuru community, Fan district, Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State.
The deceased from the Berom tribe were identified as 28-year-old Moses Dalyop and his friend, 26-year-old Samuel Yakubu.
The leadership of the youth group of the tribe, the Berom Youths Moulder-Association, BYM, condemned the incident, explaining that the duo were their members.
BYM’s National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, said the sad incident was an ambush that occurred at about 7.30 p.m. on Sunday.
He stated, “The terror attacks and the ambush are some of the modus operandi of the armed Fulani bandits to continue the killings of the natives. This is condemned in its entirety, and we call on the relevant authorities to rise to their statutory responsibility to halt the recurring decimals of acts of terrorism being meted out on Plateau hamlets, villages, and communities.
“The BYM unequivocally states that since the terrorist elements have continued to ravage hamlets, villages, and communities on the Plateau, especially Berom land, the government should legalise the acquisition of firearms by communities to safeguard residents under the supervision of the Nigeria Police Force before we are all extinct.”
