DUTSE:-As part of it’s  efforts to facilitate monitoring and inspection of educational activities across the state, Jigawa state government has purchased and distributed 11 vehicles to nine zonal education offices at the cost of over N71 million.

Launching and presenting the keys to the zonal education officers,  governor Sule Lamido said he was not at the occasion to launch the vehicles but to sound a word of warning that the vehicles were not meant for personal purposes, adding that his administration  is the government of accountability, transparency and trust as such any body found using the vehicles in an unofficial way will have himself to blame.

His word- “Let me tell the commissioner and permanent secretary that, they should be surveillance on the vehicles because I don’t want to see the vehicle carrying wives or children of the commissioners, permanent secretary or Director”. They should be used officially not for any other purposes.

He maintained that people of the state should watch and if they see any vehicle is been used for personal purposes to report to the government for drastic action, added that one of each of the Toyota HILUX 4X4 will be given to the state education inspectorate unit and state education resources department (JERA).

Earlier, the state commissioner for education, science and technology, Professor Haruna Wakili said that in 2007, the governor has re-introduce zonal education offices and established education inspectorate unit, pointed out that government provides them with vehicle which assisted them greatly.

Professor Haruna Wakili who disclosed that the 11 vehicles which were purchased at the cost of N71 million will facilitate the activities of the ministry, stressed that in 2007, the ministry has only two functional vehicles, But now it has over 67 vehicles and commended the kind gesture thereby assuring the governor that the vehicles will be judiciously used by the benefiting agencies of the ministry.
