Nigeria continued to show her strong presence as a force to be reckoned with in the game of Scrabble at the recently concluded Causeway Scrabble Challenge which held in Malaysia with her athletes putting up a strong challenge.

One of Nigeria’s representatives, coach/player Victor Owokere, against all odds over 45 gruelling rounds of scrabble at the highest level, placed fourth among other strong contenders after amassing 28 wins and scoring a plus 855 cumulative in the Masters Category.

In the Premier division, a late rally by Nsikan Etim was just not nearly enough to break into the top 10 as he placed 11th with 25 wins and a cumulative of plus 989. Owokure did enough in the last 20 games to write his name in gold among the top 5.

Other athletes who scored at the championship include Sunday Oshodi, 16th, Moses Peter, 18th, Dokun Esan, 21st, Moshood Sani, 30th and Tuoyo Mayuku, theonly lady in the pack at the 35th position , all in the Premier category.

Others who scored with Owokere in the Masters category are Bob Okoridem, 12th, Nsidibe Frank, 20th, Olabatoke Aka, president of the Scrabble Federation, 23rd, Mpakaboari, Jack, 26th, Gora Suleiman, 33rd, Chelly Okoko, 48th and Olajide Akinyemi, 49th.
