The Bishop of Holy Spirit Mission (The Happy Family Chapel ), Bishop Charles Ighele has asked political leaders to undergo series of training on how to use their offices to create wealth for the betterment of the people.
The bishop, who is also the coordinator of a non-partisan political platform known as the Crusade for National Consensus explained that the wealth of the nation entails the factor of production which are land, capital, labour and entrepreurship, adding that the ability of any political leadership to harness these factors of production determines how wealthy that nation becomes.
He said that the most important monthly meeting held by all tiers of government is that of the federal revenue allocation committee and the essence of this meeting is mostly how to share the revenue for the purpose of consumption and not wealth creation. “If our politicians imbibe the culture of how to create wealth with part of the revenue, Nigeria will become a wealthy nation,” he said.
Bishop Ighele then advises that a wealth creation commission be set up which will oversee the inculcation of a culture of wealth creation on government officials at all levels.
