Plans by Eagles’ coach, Stephen Keshi to run a camp for home-based players seem to have run into a hitch.

Keshi had proposed to the Nigeria Football Federation to open the camp from December 5-20. This was with a view to having a standing home-based team, but as at yesterday there was no sign that the programme kicked off as planned.

It was gathered that NFF were yet to give Keshi’s plan the financial backing. However, the former Eagles captain was hopeful things could still be sorted out.

“ We have missed three days already from the initial date which I proposed but I plan to meet with the NFF and I will see how it will go,” Keshi said in Abuja.

He added that the idea behind the camping was to get local league players involved in the Eagles.

“I really have the plan to get the home based players get involved in the Eagles and the best way to go about it is to have them in camp on regular basis which would afford me the opportunity to discover good ones and nurture them.

“We need quality players for the Eagles. Whether local or foreign as long as they have quality they will be given the chance to play in the team.”
