In a bid to blend youth and experience in the squad he is trying to build, Eagles’ coach, Stephen Keshi is considering a recall for some forgotten members of the Super Eagles who were not in the plans of his predecessor, Samson Siasia.

In one of those moves, Siasia has told the 2010 FIFA World Cup villain, Sani Keita to work hard in order to earn a call up to the national team.

A close confidant to Coach Keshi told Sports Vanguard that “Keshi has already told Keita to continue to work hard so that he can earn a call up in future. It was the player who initiated the move

Keshi’s posturing has given hope to a number of Nigerian internationals who have long been left out of the national team for reasons best known to the coaches.

Keita, like Yakubu Aiyegbeni who missed a sitter against Korea, was singled out for blame in Nigeria’s loss to Greece in a 2010 World Cup match when he got a red following a careless foul on a Greek player. He has since been left out of the Nigerian team.

Other Nigerian players that may get a look in from the new Super Eagles gaffer are John Chukwudi Utaka and Obafemi Martins

Utaka presently plays for French club Montpellier and has been consistent in his performances for the club.

Like Utaka, Obafemi Martins too has been in the cold since the World Cup. The former Inter Milan forward has since been in the cold since he left the English Premier League to Russia where he plays for Rubin Kazan. His recent form has also caught the attention of Keshi who has insisted on good performance as the only yard stick for an invitation to the national team.

We gathered that while the coach was taking special interest in the old-guard, those already in the team have also been told to shape in or ship out.
