Tiler docked for attempting to snatch car

A 37year-old tiler has been arraigned before an Abuja Magistrate Court by the police for an attempt to snatch a car from one Usman Isiaka Abba.

Ojuku Udeh of Tudun Wada Village, Lugbe, Abuja, was charged with offences of criminal force, assault and attempt to snatch a car contrary to sections 265 and 95 of the penal code law.

Police Prosecutor, Paul Anigbo, told the court that on August 4, 2011, the complainant, Usman Abba, told the Police that he was at Tudunwada and the accused and two others now at large appeared from nearby bush and started dragging his car key with him.

He added that during the process, they broke the car key from the ignition and inflicted injury on him.

“That you Ojuku Udeh appeared from the nearby bush and started dragging his car key with intent to snatch his vehicle and as a result, you broke the car key and inflicted injury on his body”. Anigbo said.

When the matter was mentioned, the accused pleaded not guilty, while the prosecutor sought for short adjournment.

Magistrate Hanwa Aliyu granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety who must be a civil servant of any grade level and reside within the court jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to December 5 for hearing.
