Face of Edo 2023 winner urges support for entertainment industry

Winner of the Face of Edo 2023, Blessing Oiakhena has called for support for the entertainment industry to engender growth and stability.

The Banking and Finance final-year student of the University of Benin said this recently in an interview when speaking on her new status and how she has been coping with it.

She said, “I was beyond shock but overwhelmed with excitement when I was announced as Face of Edo 2023. I knew that a load of responsibility has been passed down on me, and by God’s grace, I will overcome and deliver to the best of my ability.”

On her plans as a beauty queen, she said: “My pet project is the Nigerian Armed Forces family appreciation cultural day. It is a pet project set aside to show love to the families, children, spouses, widows, and widowers of the slain heroes who fought and lost their lives to protect the nation.”

She said the tough part of being the Face of Edo is getting sponsorship for her course and managing her business along with other responsibilities.

She used the opportunity to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to invest in the youth which is the future and create financial support in the banking industry through grants and loans.

She said: “The federal government and the multi-national companies should support the music industry by patronizing them. The entertainment industry is the largest employer of labor that can create more jobs and business opportunities for the teeming youth. It will also enable the youth to be more creative and engage in positive nation-building thereby reducing vices and being creative as part of nation-building. The government should create better diplomatic policies to create cultural exchange between countries thereby expanding the entertainment industry and creating easy collaborations with their overseas counterpart.”
