Akpabio assures of booming foreign investments

BY CHRIS OCHAYI

ABUJA-Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio has said the success of the last general elections in April, adjudged as free and fair ever held in the country, has made Nigeria a beautiful bride for foreign investments.

Governor Akpabio, who stated this shortly after he arrived the country from foreign trips where he went to woo the international community to invest in Akwa Ibom State, said the outcome of the elections rekindled the confidence of international investors in the country.

He assured that the country will soon become a business hub for foreign investors, as many of them will soon troop into the country, following useful and robust discussions his team had with them.

Speaking on the significance of the trips to his state and Nigeria, the governor said: “Well, seriously speaking, I am very happy and delighted to be back in my country with a beautiful weather, beautiful people and with prospect of greater things to come.

“Because, today, the international community applauds Nigeria for the giant strides we have taken in various areas and which were deficient in the past.

”Parts of that, of course, you know, happens to be the electoral reforms. The last April general election was applauded the best. I was privileged to accompany Mr. President to Australia for the Commonwealth Heads of Government, CHOGM, meeting.

“We had a series of interactions, not just with Australian, but with the global community. About 54 countries participated in that conference and at the end of the day, every where we went, accolades for Nigeria for the fact that we had first free and fair elections under President Goodluck Jonathan. And this is kudos for Nigeria. This has made Nigeria a great bride in the international community when it comes to the issue of investments.
