S-East govs, SGF, ministers meet in Enugu without communique

ENUGU-South-East governors met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, members of the National Assembly and ministers from the zone for over four hours in Enugu Sunday without disclosing their resolutions.

The meeting which held at Government House, Enugu, reportedly commenced at 1pm and ended at 4.45pm.

In attendance were Governors of Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambra states, the SGF, Senator Pius Anyim, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha and Senator Uche Chukwumerije.

Others were Finance Minister, Dr Mrs Okonjo Iweala, Health Minister, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu, Aviation Minister, Mrs Stella Oduah, Power Minister, Prof Barth Nnaji and Minister of State for Foreign Affair, Mrs Viola Onwuliri.

Chairman of the S-East Governors Forum, who is also Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi, told reporters after the meeting that they discussed issues of common interest to the people of the zone.

He declined answering questions from reporters on such key issues affecting the zone as killing of Igbos in the northern states by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, and the state of federal roads in the zone which had become deathtraps to road users.
