Katsina – Armed robbers have allegedly raided the premises of the Katsina State Transport Authority (KTSTA) in Katsina and carted away millions of naira on Monday.

The incident occurred at about 2.30 a.m. when the suspected robbers broke into the premises and man handled  the security guards before they commenced operation.

The robbers were said to have forcefully opened a safe in one of the offices and made away with undisclosed  millions of naira.

When contacted, Alhaji Sirajo Makera, the General Manager of the transport authority, confirmed the incident, saying  the money stolen was realised from the weekend’s proceeds.

He expressed  the regret that robbers stole the money that ought to have been taken to the bank on Monday.

Makera, however, said the police had been contacted  on the incident, adding that the security guards and some officials were helping them in their investigation.

The general manager, however, declined to disclosed the amount of money allegedly stolen .

But  in his response, the  Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abubakar Ibrahim said , “it is not robbery as the safe containing the money was opened with a key.”

“We suspect it is a breach of trust. We suspect the theft was arranged internally”.

According to Ibrahim, investigation on the incident is on-going. (NAN)
