LAGOS – The acting Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Gombe State, Mallam Sadiq Musa has said that sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the re-run election in Balanga/Biliri Federal Constituency in Gombe State which holds tomorrow have been received by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Speaking at a news briefing in his office yesterday, Musa said that National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members will form part of the ad-hoc staff from tertiary institutions within and outside the state that will take part in the election, adding that adequate orientation has been given to them.
Musa further revealed that about 1, 095,783 registered voters would participate in the election which will take place in 317 polling units in the constituency with 20 registration areas, pointing out that altogether, 1,052 personnel were needed to effectively cover the area.
The REC who said that movement will be restricted in the affected constituency during the election also hinted that INEC had liaised with the security agencies including the police, State Security Service, SSS, and Civil Defense Corps to forestall any security breach.
Meanwhile, five candidates from five political parties including the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, the Labour Party, LP, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, will take part in the election.
