Nigerian weightlifters at the on going Comm-onwealth Youth, Junior, Senior, and African Senior weightlifting championship in South Africa has won 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.

The championship which started last Sunday saw Nigerian female lifter Nkechi Opara winning gold in the 48kg category in youth and bronze in the commonwealth junior. Augustina Nwokolo won gold in the 48kg commonwealth junior and silver in senior while Rasaq Tanimowo won gold in the 56kg juniors.

The lifters also won one silver and one bronze each in the same category in senior and juniors.

The championship which is being used has qualifiers for next year’s Olympics in London runs till Saturday this weekend.
