Enyimba have promised to spank Wydad Casablanca at home to qualify for the final of this year’s CAF Champions League.

The Nigerian champions fell 1-0 in Morocco at the weekend, but are bullish they will easily overturn this deficit with a big win inside the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on October 16.

“We would have loved to have at least got a draw in Morocco, but it was not to be. All the same, we are sure we will qualify for the final because we will win very well in Aba,” defender Markson Ojobo said after the loss in Morocco.

“The chairman was happy with our performance and said he expects us to win by as much as 5-0 in Aba.”

Two-time champions Enyimba were defensive from start to finish on Saturday, even playing three central defenders – Ojobo, Nnaemeka Anyanwu and Chinedu Udoji – as cover for goalkeeper Paul Godwin.

Club boss Anyansi said it will be a very different Enyimba against Wydad in a fortnight.

“They will see a different Enyimba in the return leg,” declared Anyansi, whose team are due in Lagos Tuesday.

“To take a lone goal defeat into the return leg is a positive thing. If they had scored two, three goals, that would have been different, but it’s just a single goal so nothing changes for us.

“This is where it starts. We know what we have to do to get to the final.

“We’re an experienced side who have been there before.”

The loss in Casablanca halted Enyimba’s unbeaten run in the competition.

Goalkeeper Godwin pulled off another inspired performance pulling off several top-class saves until he was beaten a minute to full time by a Pascal Angan near-post header.

He will also predict a big win for his team in the return clash.

“We may have lost, but it was just by a goal. We will do enough in Aba to qualify for the final by beating them well,” assured Godwin
