“Every dog has its day. Today was not my day. I did my best but it wasn’t good enough. So it’s bye bye to camp.” With those words, Franklin Inegbedion made his way out of the Ososo jungle, Edo State, location of the Gulder Ultimate Search. He became the fourth person to exit GUS 8 after his dismal performance in the third task set before the contestants. As it stands only two male contestants remain in the jungle while the female contestants are four in number, having lost only one of their own.

It was an anti-climax for Franklin, who recently emerged the winner of the second task. He received as reward, the match for fire, which the contestants used in preparing their meals. Perhaps, the victory seemed to be getting the better of him as he clashed with some of the other contestants before the fateful contest.

Hours before the contest, there was no inkling of the drama that lay ahead. Having gotten over the eviction of Ola and Samuel, the contestants settled down to life in the jungle. Being a Sunday morning, the contestants conducted a church service, with Alvin filling in commendably as presiding pastor.

When it was time for the task, all the contestants assembled at the designated spot before the show anchor, Bob Manuel Udokwu. Each of the contestants was required to fetch water from a stream using small bowls and pouring the water into buckets located a few metres up-stream. Each bucket had flags tied to a stick.

As the water in the bowl increased, the stick rose until the flag tied to the end of the sticks was at full mast. Sounds easy enough, except that each of the contestants would have to find his way from the stream to the buckets blindfolded! They would be aided by ropes running from the buckets to the stream. Just like tasks before it, this one demanded mental alertness rather than physical strength.

Indeed, it was a tricky task for the contestants as they shuttled between their buckets and the stream guided by their ropes, tripping and stumbling over each other in the process. For Franklin, it was sheer hard luck as he erroneously poured water into Betty’s bucket.

Betty could hardly believe her luck when the flag in her bucket went up before others, courtesy of Franklin. Kelvin’s flag was the second to go up, while Geraldine maintained her impressive streak by being the third contestant whose flag went up. With this feat, Geraldine has remained within the top three contestants in all of the three tasks.

Anastasia’s flag was up next before Promise and Alvin’s flags went up. Franklin, having failed to complete the task was evicted on the spot. He was mandated to hand over the sacred Pyramid of Pharaoh Ramses, who appeared mysteriously in their camp, the day before. He complied by handing it to Kelvin.

Back at the camp, the contestants settled down, ruminating over the eviction. As usual, Kelvin proved to be a suitable outlet for the tension of the moments before.

Meanwhile, romance appears to be brewing between Kelvin and Promise. Will they last long enough to continue the romance or will they join the remaining, the last three that are yet to be eliminated? Will Kelvin and Alvin, the last men standing, survive eviction or will they be swept away by the impressive showings of the women?
