WARRI – Delta State Government has commended the people of Ugborodo Community of Warri South West Local Government Area for displaying maturity in ending the leadership struggle of the Ugborodo Community Trust, weekend, with the conduct of a free and fair election.
Rear Admiral John Kpokpogri (rtd.), Chief Security Adviser to the government gave the commendation at the end of the election, at which Mr. Thomas Eriyitomi emerged Chairman.
Kpokpogri said: “We congratulate the Ugborodo people for conducting a free and fair election. The process was peaceful. The maturity displayed is worth of emulation by other people. We are a peace loving government and we want everybody to maintain the peace.
“We came as observers, you know that government cannot choose leaders for communities but only the people can do that. We are satisfied with the conduct and urge you to continue in peace so that rapid development will follow.”
Those elected included; Mr. Thomas Eriyitomi, Chairman; Mr. Isaac Botosan, Vice Chairman; Mr. Ayiri Emami, Public Relation Officer; Mr. Perry Okoturo, Treasurer; and Mrs. Ese Eyeguokan as Financial Secetary.
Eriyitomi in his acceptance speech promised that the objectives and aims of the community would be pursued and achieved. He said: “We call for cooperation from our people. We promise to work with our people to ensure a speedy development of the area. We want peace in Ugborodo and we promise to build on the existing peace.”
