Yenagoa- Barely 48 hours after the official flag off of sales by Governor Timipre Sylva, Bayelsa State Plastic Industry, weekend, sold its first consignment of Polyvinyl chloride, PVC, pipes valued at over N5 million.

Chairman of the state- owned company, Mr. Mike Epengunle, who disclosed this to Vanguard, said management and staff were in very high spirits as products from the factory had been adjudged to be of very high quality and rated among the best in the country.

He said: “Our distributors, customers and users have been calling to congratulate us on the quality of our products, and we hope to maintain this high standard.

“The major challenge to the company was coping with the pressure of demand that is already mounting, due to the quality of products, as distributors even from other states are already calling to place orders.”

“To meet this challenge, the management of the company has worked out plans to run three hours shifts, to make the industry run 24 hours.”

The company, the chairman said, has the capacity of producing 1,500 pipes, while the poythene sector produces over 50 rolls daily.

He thanked the state governor, Chief Sylva for ensuring that the plastic industry was established, functional, and productive.

“The company is a viable commercial outfit. It had employed 1,227 indigenes of Bayelsa State with skilled workers from all parts of the country training Bayelsa indigenes.”

He urged Bayelsans to take advantage of company and become distributors and also consumer the products.
