Anambra renews tenure of LG bosses

By VINCENT UJUMADU
AWKA- Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, Thurday, swore in the transition committee chairmen for the 21 local government areas of the state for another three months. The ceremony took place in the Banquet Hall of the Governors’ Lodge, Awka.

The exercise followed the approval by the State House of Assembly for the committees to serve another three months after the expiration of their initial three months.

Governor Obi said the exercise was in line with the constitution which allowed the re-appointment of the transition chairmen after three months and urged them to work harder and use the  period to further consolidate government programmes at the grassroots.

He assured that they would continue to receive support and encouragement from the state government. Some of the chairmen pledged to uplift the living standard of their people.

The chairman of Orumba North, Mr. Emeka Aforka, said they had keyed into Governor Obi’s development vision and transformation agenda to restore confidence in governance.
