Former Nigeria defender, Taribo West has advised players and handlers of the Super Eagles to forget the 1 – 3 loss to Argentina in an international friendly on Tuesday and set their minds on October’s game against Guinea.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles face Guinea in a Group B game that will decide the winner of the ticket to next year’s edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
The ex-professional footballer, who is now a full-time pastor, further said the loss to the Albiceleste of Argentina was an opportunity for the team to learn.
“I think the loss to Argentina should not be an issue the players or the coaches should dwell too much on now. That game is gone and they should see it as a learning process and work towards their next game (against Guinea) which is more important than any other oneright now,” the former Inter Milan centre-back said.
The Nigerian men’s national team currently trail their Guinean counterparts by three points and must grab an outright win to secure a place at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles will qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations finals if they defeat their Guinean opponents by at least a 1–0 scoreline.
But the Nigerians could fail to reach the finals if they do not defeat Guinea.
