In a way to discover, harness youth talents for personal development, self-reliant and job creation, organisers of the FilmHouse TV Reality Show in a press conference in Lagos told newsmen that passion for youth empowerment had been their motivating factor over the years despite the challenges of gathering youths together and cost implications. They also said that since youths are the leaders of tomorrow, they are not regretting taking these steps that help youths discover themselves, and the earlier is done, the better for the country.
They also recounted tremendous achievements as some of the winners had travelled to abroad for greener pastures.
During the conference, the contestants of the FilmHouse TV Reality Show, Season One presented a song and drama titled, “The Girl Child” which depicted gender inequality where a father refused to sponsored his daughter’s education because she is a female and that really frustrated the daughter to committed suicide.
Thereafter the presentation, newsmen met with the contestants as they related their experience of the programme.
Edosa Victor Onyekachi: My experience in the house has really been amazing and educative. Before joining the house, I knew a little about filmmaking but coming to the house to contest, I saw a different perspective to filmmaking. I have learnt a lot when it comes to film making, directing and how to act, relationship with crew members, artistes, and film production.
Onyekachi, being optimistic to win told newsmen that if she wins, she hopes to use the money to take care of his parents. “I have a lot of things I planned to do with the money. First and foremost, I will start a business for myself and also invest into other things.
Onyekachi further said, “I commend the organisers for giving us the opportunity to feature in this reality television show. They have given up-and-coming artistes the opportunity to hon their skills in the film industry.
When we came in here, we were 34 contestants in the house but now, we are 11 contestants”.
Rosemary Afuwape: My experience in the house so far has been challenging. It has made me to discover myself. Am an actress as well as an entrepreneur. I have a Non Governmental Organization that supports the girl child by ensuring that they go to school and they are taught various vocational skills that they can use to improve their life.
In the house, I have learnt not to allow my emotions to control me but I should be in control of my emotions. Also, never have a plan B but stick to your plan A because your plan B can make you reluctant or lazy with your plan A. I have also learnt to be humble in whatever I do. I am grateful for my fans for their support in the house and I believe it is a win-win situation”.
Ojo Beauty: My experience in the house is such a good one that I have been able to discover myself, potentials and what I can do with my talent. I am an actress and a business woman.
Part of my experience is that I have come to that level where I have learnt to manage my anger, tolerate people and be able to live with other people. I thank God for being among the finalist in the show. The organisers have always told us that we should fight to finish and am ready to fight to win the main prize”.
Jason Ebuka: I am actor and a model. There will be a big difference after the end of the show. Am going on with a lot. I learnt a lot of self control, how to be emotionally balanced, how not to give up, pay attention to people and how to lead. It pays to listen to what you can take home. I say thank you to the organisers for given me the opportunity to explore my talents. The world should watch out for me because I have a lot of things that will benefit the country at large. If I don’t win and nit winning is a plan B and am optimistic that I will win.
